New Delhi: Apollo Hospitals Enterprise Ltd (AHEL) has launched Apollo Athenaa, Asia’s first dedicated cancer centre exclusively for women, located at E2-E3, Defence Colony, New Delhi.
The centre was formally inaugurated by the Chief Minister of Delhi, Rekha Gupta, in the presence of Dr Prathap C Reddy, Founder-Chairman of Apollo Hospitals Group; Bansuri Swaraj, Member of Parliament, New Delhi; Neeraj Basoya, Member of the Legislative Assembly; Preetha Reddy, Executive Vice Chairperson, AHEL; and Harshad Reddy, Director, Group Oncology, AHEL.
Apollo Athenaa: A milestone in women-centric cancer care
Speaking at the launch, CM Rekha Gupta emphasised the importance of women-focused healthcare, stating that Apollo Athenaa would serve as a landmark institution for ensuring dignity, privacy, and security in cancer treatment for women.

Rising incidence of cancer among women
According to the Indian Council of Medical Research’s National Cancer Registry Programme (ICMR-NCRP), cancer cases among women have surpassed those among men in recent years. Breast and cervical cancers are reported as the most common forms of cancer affecting Indian women.
Apollo leadership on women’s healthcare
Dr Prathap C Reddy highlighted that Apollo Athenaa embodies the fusion of cutting-edge science and compassion, reflecting Apollo’s commitment to providing timely care and reaffirming India’s role as a leader in healthcare innovation.

Bansuri Swaraj, MP for New Delhi, added that the Government of India is implementing strong policies for prevention, early detection, and treatment of cancer, with a special focus on women’s health. She said Apollo Athenaa complements the government’s vision and sets a global benchmark in women-centric cancer care.
Preetha Reddy described Apollo Athenaa as a movement that represents empathy, progress, and a renewed focus on personalised healthcare for women.
By concentrating on cancers that disproportionately affect women, the facility aims to enhance early detection, improve treatment outcomes, and restore hope to patients and their families.
